Danniella Westbrook is recovering after being rushed to hospital.

The former soap star was found to be suffering with potentially fatal blood- poisoning condition Septicemia after a sudden decline in her health.

Without fast treatment, sepsis can lead to multiple organ failure and even death.

A rep for the star told The Sun the former

"Danniella suffered a sudden health shock," they explained.

"Thankfully the issue was caught early and dealt with by medical professionals.

Danniella hinted that all was not well this week as she posted to Instagram saying she was spending another day in bed sick.

The 48-year-old star said she was planning to head off on a "much needed inner child reiki meditation and sound healing spiritual retreat" when she was feeling better.

It comes after Danniella recently went under the knife to reconstruct her face.

The star was left with crumbling features after overcoming her drug addiction and battling osteoporosis.

Danniella said she went ahead with the surgery to restore her confidence after being sent horrific taunts by online trolls.

The mum-of-two opted for facial reconstructive surgery on the NHS after private plastic surgeons told her the op would set her back £500,000.

She told The Sun: 'I've spent the last seven years trying to get somebody to do it, but they said no in case it failed and they got struck off.

"Plastic surgeons wanted £500,000 to change my face, so I thought I was never going to get it done.

"I couldn't breathe because I had a cold. There was a build up of fluid and after I fell asleep I couldn't wake up properly and ended up in ICU.

"I was sent over to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool and it's only because I was put in front of the right doctors, or else I'd still be waiting now to find someone."
